When a side feed layout is useful
Some multipacks need collation before they can be wrapped. A side feed sleeve sealer layout can be considered where products are grouped and pushed sideways into the film path before passing through the shrink tunnel.
This approach can be useful where bottle or can groups need a set pack pattern, where trays need to be squared before sealing or where products arrive from a conveyor but require controlled grouping before the sleeve is formed.
Collation details to confirm
- Pack pattern, such as 2x3, 3x4 or tray format.
- Product stability before and after the side push.
- Whether the pack is trayless, on a pad or in a tray.
- Required changeover between different pack counts.
- Guarding, access and operator loading requirements.
