How a sleeve sealing machine works
A sleeve sealing machine feeds film around the product or grouped pack, creates a film sleeve using a heated sealing jaw and then transfers the pack into a shrink tunnel for finishing. The result is a tight multipack or transit pack that is easier to handle, stack and distribute.
The important choice is whether the machine should be operator-assisted, automatic, inline or side-feed. Bottles, cans, cartons and trays all need different handling before the seal. Pack stability, weight and the required presentation determine the correct conveyor and tunnel route.
When this route is suitable
Sleeve sealing is commonly specified for grouped products where a full bag seal is not required. It is a practical route for multipacks, tray packs, trayless bundles, cartons, tins, bottles and cans. The side of the pack can remain open after shrinking, while the film holds the group together securely.
For individual retail packs that require a complete closed bag, an L-sealer or another shrink wrapping route may be a better fit. For groups and transit packs, a sleeve sealing machine is usually the more relevant starting point.
Information needed for Lancing to advise
Send the finished pack size, product weight, bundle count, product photographs and desired output. If the line already has conveyors, filling equipment or downstream packing, include the available floor space and conveyor height so the sleeve sealer can be matched to the whole line.
Film type and thickness also matter. PE shrink film is often used for transit packs and heavier multipacks, but the final recommendation depends on the product, pack stability and required shrink finish.
