Sleeve sealing for transit packs
Transit packs usually prioritise pack security, handling and film strength. A sleeve sealer and shrink tunnel route can be a good fit where grouped products, trays, cartons, bottles or cans need to be contained for movement through warehousing and distribution.
The specification should consider pack weight, film thickness, tunnel shrink quality and how the finished pack is handled after the tunnel. The strongest visual finish is not always the same as the most practical transit pack.
Transit pack checks
- Finished pack weight and lifting method.
- Film thickness and pack containment requirement.
- Tray, pad or unsupported product group.
- Shrink finish needed for storage and transport.
- Outfeed, cooling and downstream packing method.
| Security | Film should hold the pack format through normal handling. |
|---|---|
| Throughput | Line speed should match upstream and downstream processes. |
| Handling | Finished pack discharge and operator handling must be planned. |
