The pack pattern determines more than the pack count
A sleeve sealer pack pattern sets the product arrangement, support format, film width, tunnel loading and the way the finished bundle will be handled after cooling.
Two packs with the same number of products can behave differently if one is tray-supported and the other is trayless, or if the centre of gravity, product height or base friction changes. For this reason the pattern should be trialled as a physical bundle rather than assumed from a product count.

Should the trial use the real tray or pad?
Yes. The real tray, pad or support material should be used wherever possible because support stiffness, friction and edge height can change the way the bundle seals, shrinks and handles.
Changing support material after approval may require further film and tunnel checks.
